The national airline Uzbekistan Airways carries out c a project on the construction of a cutting edge civil aviation complex on the basis of Tashkent-Vostochny airfield

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a corresponding decree.

According to the document, in view of public complaints caused by the demolition of residential and non-residential buildings, the transfer of the Qorasuv Canal section and the resettlement of citizens, the implementation of the investment project on the construction of a new international passenger terminal of the Tashkent airport will be temporarily suspended.

To increase the efficiency of operation and radically improve the quality of service for passengers arriving by international flights, it is envisaged to increase the capacity of the Tashkent international airport by reconstructing the former building of local airlines and equipping it with up-to-date equipment for servicing passengers and their luggage. A cutting edge complex will be built on the basis of the Tashkent-Vostochny airfield to provide the highest level of receptions and farewells for foreign delegations.

The project aims at the development of the respective infrastructure in line with world standards, improvement of flight conditions and quality of passenger service, bringing it to the latest international requirements and standards.

The construction of the civil aviation airport complex will be funded through the loans of foreign financial institutions, as well as private funds of the NAC Uzbekistan Airways in terms of financing of design and survey work.

NAC Uzbekistan Airways was assigned to team up with UzshaharsozlikLITI to develop a feasibility analysis of the project, coordinate it with the authorized expertise bodies, and submit it for approval to the Cabinet of Ministers within three months. The companies have also been entitled to carry out construction and installation works, and concurrently develop design estimates by February 1, 2018.
